The EMHS Board, as the accountable authority under the Health Services Act 2016, is responsible for setting the strategic direction of EMHS.

In 2025-26 the EMHS Board developed the EMHS 2036 Strategic Direction, which articulates the long-term strategic intent for the health service.

The Strategic Direction has been informed by contemporary health system priorities, including whole-of-system planning, sustainable service delivery, workforce capability and person-centred health care services. It focuses on 6 interdependent aspects which align with the WA Premier’s health priorities, and will be used by the EMHS Board to guide decision-making and promote innovation across the organisation.

In 2026-27, the EMHS 2036 Strategic Direction will be supported by the development and delivery of new EMHS Chief Executive-led strategic and operational plans.

The Board continued its commitment to engagement through monthly leader rounding, giving staff and consumers the opportunity to discuss issues, challenges and celebrations with Board members.
